Neurology Services

We can evaluate and treat most Neurological issues, including the following:

  • A headache is one of the most common pain conditions in the world and can be more complicated than most people realize. Headaches can be mild, but in many cases, can cause severe pain that impacts people’s life. It causes pain and discomfort in the head, scalp, or neck. It’s estimated that 7 in 10 people experience at least one episode of headache per year.

Some headaches are considered hereditary, especially migraines, and run in families. In most cases, headaches can be treated with medications. In other cases, headache treatment consists of managing the patient’s stress.

  • Seizures occur when abnormal electrical activity disrupts normal brain function. They can range from brief lapses in awareness to full-body convulsions. Causes vary widely, including epilepsy, head injury, infection, or metabolic imbalance. Proper evaluation helps determine the type of seizure and the best treatment plan. Many patients achieve good control with medication and lifestyle adjustments.

  • A stroke happens when blood flow to part of the brain is interrupted, causing sudden loss of neurological function. Early treatment is critical to limit damage. After the acute phase, post-stroke care focuses on restoring mobility, speech, and independence through targeted therapies and medical management. Ongoing monitoring helps reduce the risk of a future stroke and supports long-term recovery.

  • Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder caused by loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brain. It leads to tremor, stiffness, slowed movement, and balance problems. Although there is no cure, medications and specialized therapies can significantly improve symptoms and daily functioning. Early diagnosis and individualized care plans are key to maintaining quality of life.

  • Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia involve ongoing decline in memory, thinking, and behavior. These conditions affect daily activities and often progress over time. While there is no cure, early identification allows for treatment strategies that can slow symptom progression, support independence, and help families plan for future needs. Comprehensive care focuses on safety, cognition, and overall well-being.

  • Cognitive and memory disorders involve difficulties with attention, problem-solving, learning, or recall. These issues may stem from aging, injury, medical illness, or neurological conditions. Thorough evaluation helps identify the underlying cause and guides treatment. Management may include medication, cognitive training, and lifestyle modifications to support brain function and daily performance.

  • Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. This leads to a wide range of symptoms, including weakness, numbness, vision changes, and fatigue. MS is unpredictable, but modern treatments can reduce flare-ups and slow progression. Personalized care helps patients maintain function and quality of life.

  • Bell’s palsy is a sudden, temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face, usually caused by inflammation of the facial nerve. It may lead to drooping, difficulty closing the eye, or changes in facial expression. Most people recover fully within weeks to months. Early treatment with medication and supportive care improves outcomes.

  • Vertigo is a sensation of spinning or motion caused by problems in the inner ear or brain pathways that control balance. Episodes can be brief or prolonged and may be accompanied by nausea or unsteadiness. Diagnosis focuses on identifying the underlying cause, such as benign positional vertigo or vestibular inflammation. Treatments range from specific maneuvers to medications and physical therapy.

Neurology Procedures

  • Botox® injections are an FDA-approved, highly effective treatment for patients who experience chronic migraine headaches. Many people are surprised to learn that Botox isn’t just for cosmetic use—when injected into specific muscle groups of the head and neck, it can significantly reduce the frequency, severity, and duration of migraines.

During the procedure, small amounts of Botox are injected into targeted areas that play a role in headache development. These injections help relax overactive muscles and calm pain pathways that trigger migraines. The treatment is quick, minimally uncomfortable, and typically completed in about 10–15 minutes.

Most patients begin noticing improvement within a few weeks, with maximum benefit seen after ongoing treatments every 12 weeks. Many experience fewer headache days, reduced intensity, and an improved quality of life.

  • An EMG (Electromyography) is a diagnostic test that helps your neurologist understand how well your muscles and nerves are working together. It’s commonly used when patients experience symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, muscle cramps, or unexplained pain.

During the test, two parts may be performed:

    1. Nerve Conduction Study (NCS)

Small sensors (electrodes) are placed on the skin, and gentle electrical pulses are used to see how quickly and effectively your nerves send signals. This part helps identify nerve irritation, compression, or damage.

    2. Electromyography

A very thin, sterile needle electrode is placed into select muscles to measure their activity at rest and during movement. This provides valuable information about the health of both the muscle and the nerve supplying it.

Most patients describe the test as mildly uncomfortable but very tolerable, and it typically takes 30–60 minutes.

An EMG can help diagnose conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, pinched nerves, neuropathy, radiculopathy, ALS, and muscle disorders. It is a safe and extremely informative tool that guides accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning.

  • An EEG (Electroencephalogram) is a simple, painless test that measures the electrical activity of your brain. Every thought, movement, and sensation is powered by tiny electrical signals. An EEG helps us record those signals so we can better understand how your brain is functioning.

During the test, small sensors (called electrodes) are gently placed on your scalp. These sensors do not hurt, do not deliver electricity, and do not affect your brain in any way—they only “listen” and record what your brain naturally produces.

An EEG can help diagnose conditions such as seizures, epilepsy, fainting spells, sleep disorders, headaches, and other neurological symptoms. Most tests take 20–40 minutes, and you can relax comfortably throughout the procedure.

In short, an EEG is a safe and trusted tool that helps neurologists get a clearer picture of your brain’s health so you can receive the best possible care.

  • Trigger point injections are a quick, effective treatment used to relieve tight, painful muscle knots—often called “trigger points.” These knots can form after injury, stress, poor posture, or repetitive strain and may cause localized pain or even radiate discomfort to nearby areas.

During the procedure, a small needle is gently inserted into the tight muscle, and a tiny amount of medication (often a local anesthetic) is injected to relax the muscle fibers. The treatment takes only a few minutes, and most patients feel immediate relief or gradual improvement over the next several days.

Trigger point injections can help reduce muscle stiffness, improve range of motion, and relieve headaches, neck pain, back pain, and other discomfort caused by tense or overworked muscles.

In short, they are a simple, safe, and effective way to help loosen stubborn muscle knots and restore comfort and mobility.
